You do not realise the magnitude of what you have done for me

I have been looking forward to writing a review on plastic surgeon Mr Paul Tulley.

Let me start by saying a very big thank you to Mr Tulley from the bottom of my heart. Paul, you might not realise the magnitude of what you have done for me. I can never forget you for the rest of my life as you have put so much joy, confidence and high self-esteem in me.

After losing and keeping off 15kg in weight over nine years from exercising and having two children by Caesarean section, I had been carrying a huge amount of excess skin in my abdomen which has always made me sad and unconfident no matter what I wore. You have turned this around.

It will be nearly four weeks since I had my abdominoplasty and everything has gone extremely smoothly and the recovery is still ongoing.

I highly recommend Mr Paul Tulley for anyone looking for a first-class plastic surgeon.

I met Mr Paul Tulley in person four months before my surgery and I knew straight away he would be the one. He spoke to me with a lot of confidence in the job he does. He answered every question and gave me the best advice on what he would be doing.

I am still healing but 100% satisfied already.

My Paul Tulley pays attention to detail, is very caring and was extremely responsive when asked any questions.

I am yet to fully come to terms with my new body as he did an excellent job.

Paul, thank you so so much.

Aesthetically excellent with minimal scarring

When you notice the long list of impressive and hard-earned medical credentials following Mr Tulley’s name, you know you are in the hands of an extremely well trained and competent surgeon. He also possesses a skilled aesthetic eye and the talent to create beauty from ashes.

As a breast cancer survivor, I was referred for treatment of a difficult case of breast reconstruction following a cosmetically disfiguring series of radiotherapy and lumpectomy treatments to excise breast cancer.

With painstaking exactness and a great deal of time and effort, Mr Tulley proceeded to undertake numerous and time-consuming pre-surgical fittings to make sure that the new implants for reconstruction would be as perfectly fitted as possible to give the optimal cosmetic result. With meticulous surgical skill and expertise, Mr Tulley gave me outstanding and cosmetically excellent results.

During my surgery I was treated with great care, support and sensitivity to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.

In essence, I owe much to Mr Tulley: with excellent surgical skill, talent and care, my original painful breast disfigurement has been transformed into a symmetrical, attractive, natural and cosmetically pleasing result. Aesthetically excellent with minimal scarring.

My recovery was quick and very comfortable. Again I owe much to this doctor for excellent surgical treatment and care resulting in my very positive and attractive surgical results, as well as my enhanced self-esteem, self-confidence and improved quality of life.

I say thank you, Mr Tulley!!!

After weight loss, I had a consultation with Mr Paul Tulley to discuss a thigh lift and brachioplasty. Mr Tulley was very professional, explained the procedure and what outcome I could expect. Everything went very smoothly during the surgery.

It is now seven weeks since surgery and I’m over the moon with my results, due to Mr Tulley’s surgical skill the scars on my arms are not visible from the front and are already healing remarkably fast. I’m now wearing short sleeves for the first time in ten years.

I highly recommend Mr Paul Tulley to anyone looking for a skilled cosmetic surgeon.

My confidence in Mr Tulley was such that I had no qualms whatsoever

Three years ago, I decided to have my breast implants removed and another operation called a mastopexy… which to all of those uninitiated to the world of cosmetic surgery, is a breast lift.

Over a number of years my implants had become asymmetric, horribly encapsulated, and so were not only way too uncomfortable to lie on, but they just looked rather odd! Quite frankly, I had become tired of having these very weighty, solid orbs on the front of my body… it was time to get them removed!

I had my consultation with Mr Tulley and immediately felt confident that he would do an excellent job, both with the implant removal (which is more complicated than you would think when the implant is wrapped up tightly in a girdle of crushing scar tissue), and the reconstruction and lifting of the leftover breast tissue.

Over the years and long before meeting Mr Tulley, I had had the encapsulated implants removed and then replaced. The resultant bruising came right down to my waist and the post-operative pain was dreadful. So needless to say I was expecting a whole world of post-operative pain with this next procedure but at least I knew what to expect, so was prepared for the worst.

Just imagine my amazement when I awoke from the anaesthesia. No pain… at all! Not only that, but once all the initial pain medications had worn off I didn’t even need to take anything more than the occasional paracetamol.

When the bandages were finally removed, I could hardly believe how much breast tissue Mr Tulley had managed to salvage in order to sculpt a most beautiful pair of pert breasts. In retrospect, had I have known this degree of success was possible, I would have had the operation instead of having the implants replaced twice over.

Fast forward one year later to June 2015. Flushed with the success of my implant removal and mastopexy, I decided to fix the next things on my list.

  1. To remove some of the signs of ageing from my face… well, at 58 looking like I did in my 20s would be ridiculous, right?
  2. To have my tummy muscles pulled together again and a mini tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)

Having had five children, my muscles were so far apart, that no amount of stomach crunching was ever going to rectify the situation. In fact, when I would lie on the floor and raise my upper body, I could see that my  abdomen would actually protrude longitudinally… how bizarre!

My confidence in Mr Tulley was such that I had no qualms whatsoever, so following my consultation I arranged to have both procedures at the same time, one after the other.

Following the operation, I awoke with a fair degree of pain but that was quickly sorted with pain medications administered intravenously. My face was lifted and rejuvenated, and I felt like I’d had all my abdominal muscles pulled together like the best corset you’ve ever tried on in a bridal shop and then stitched back together again.

Discomfort aside, when, a few days later, I managed to stand upright, the results of my face and tummy were beyond amazing!!! I cannot begin to tell you how thrilled I was with the results. In my tummy, Mr Tulley had managed to pull my muscles together even though the gap between them was five inches. He then used a judicious amount of liposuction to enhance my waist. The result was an hourglass figure that I hadn’t had for many a year.

Fast forward to 2016.

My face and waistline are still a fantastic testament to Mr Tulley’s skill in the operating theatre.

Would I have something else done? In a heartbeat… I’m just waiting for the time when I see something sagging and in need of Mr T’s brilliance.

Quite frankly, in this day and age of more affordable cosmetic surgery, there is no need to put up with something about yourself that you don’t like.

On an entirely separate note, I see Mr Tulley every four months or so to have Botox injections into the suboccipital muscles on the back of my head. I have found this particular treatment absolutely invaluable in stopping persistent migraines.

Should anyone feel like they would like to talk to me about any of the above then please let Mr Tulley know. I would be more than happy to help answer any of your questions from a patient’s perspective.

Mr Tulley’s great skill with meticulous and artistic treatment

I became a grateful patient of Mr Paul Tulley in 2015. Having worked internationally in the arts and entertainment industry for most of my life it was a priority for both my career and self-image that I maintain an attractive, authentic and youthful appearance to remain competitive in my artistic endeavours.

Mr Tulley’s great skill with meticulous and artistic treatment using facial fillers was brilliant. Cosmetically effective treatment renewed my face with a fresh, vibrant and youthful perspective.

My close friends, family and professional colleagues would comment on a newly vibrant and glowing wellness about me

With subtle, careful and artistic application of facial fillers I lost 10 – 15 visible years and received many stunning compliments. All in all, I owe these improvements to Mr Tulley’s artistry and skilled talent, perfectionism and medical expertise. Many thanks.

In addition as an anxious patient I was treated with patience, care and understanding. In conclusion, I have been extremely pleased with the results. I truly believe this treatment has enhanced both my life and appearance: I remain beautiful and successful in my career and artistic endeavours.

With great thanks to Mr Tulley.

This 24-year-old lady received 330 cc moderate profile and 300 cc moderate profile, round Nagor breast implants to the right and left sides respectively to increase breast volume, improve shape and correct breast asymmetry. The implants were placed in the dual plane and inserted via an inframammary fold incision.
The patient increased breast size from a small B to a full C cup with improved shape and correction of breast asymmetry. The dual-plane approach was used to produce a natural breast shape with smooth upper poles, without visibility of the implant edge, and a fuller, round lower pole of the breast.
Round, moderate profile implants were selected for this case as the patient had good breast development, was of a reasonable body weight, wanted a moderate volume breast augmentation and had a good chest wall shape.
Moderate profile Nagor implants were used due to the dimensions of the patient’s breast base in relation to the implant, and to produce a natural breast shape.
The patient was assessed for breast augmentation preoperatively using a number of different implant sizers, together with a trial bra in front of a mirror, so that they could decide on the optimal breast implant volume, shape and profile for them. It also allowed us to assess the volume difference between the two breasts in order to accurately correct the breast volume asymmetry.
The patient had a dressing applied at surgery which was removed after one week, after which they wore a sports bra to 6 weeks to allow the implants to settle securely in the correct position.

Recommended whole heartedly

Last year in November 2014 I decided to do a Thigh Reduction and Lift with Mr. Tulley. He removed over 3kg of fat from around my thighs and the surgery went very well. I went home the same next day and my recovery was rapid as I followed Mr. Tulley post-operative care instructions to the letter, wearing the support tights 24 hours a day for the first week. I didn’t take many pain killers as it was not necessary. My legs now look more shapely and I’m very happy with the results! I can’t praise Mr Tulley enough, he really cares about obtaining the desired results for his patients. I have been back to him for another procedure and I recommend him whole heartedly.

I couldn’t be happier

I highly recommend Mr Paul Tulley for breast augmentation. I went to a few other clinics previously, and they were no where near the professional level. The personal touch goes a long way when going through surgery. Mr Paul Tulley is a fantastic surgeon, puts you at ease and answers all questions you may have. He is also very professional in his mannerisms which I noticed and liked immediately. This really stood out to me as it placed Mr Paul Tulley on a superior level compared to the other surgeons I met with at other clinics who seemed money hungry. The final results are amazing, I could not be happier. I went for a bra fitting at Selfridges and the specialists said it was one of the best jobs she has seen!

Is Surgery Right for You?

unsureBefore undergoing any type of cosmetic surgery procedure, it’s important to establish whether you’re doing it for the right reasons. Any good cosmetic surgeon will also want to talk about your reasons for having the surgery. Why? Because going under the knife is a major decision and it isn’t one you should take lightly.

There are right and wrong reasons for wanting to change your appearance. If you end up doing it for the wrong ones, you could end up regretting it or at the very least, be unhappy with the results. Below you’ll discover both the right and the wrong reasons to opt for plastic surgery.

Are you doing it for yourself or to please somebody else?

The answer to this question isn’t always straightforward. Initially you might think you’re doing it for yourself, but if deep down the reason you want to change is to look good for other people, it might not be a good idea. You could end up changing one thing and then find you’re unhappy with something else.

Cosmetic surgery can get addictive, especially if you’re focused on pleasing other people. It’s your body so you need to look how you want to look.

How long have you wanted the surgery?

This is another important question you need to ask yourself. If you’ve been longing for bigger breasts for years for example, then a breast augmentation could be a good option. However, if you’ve only just decided to get bigger breasts on a whim, it would be worth waiting a while and doing as much research as you can. Cosmetic surgery on a whim is never a good idea.

Are you expecting the procedure to change your life?

Many people believe once they have the surgery, it will change their life. In some cases this might be true, mostly for those seeking reconstructive surgery. However, a cosmetic surgery in most cases will not magically change your life. All your troubles and worries will still be there; you’ll just look different.

To sum it up, good reasons for having plastic surgery include if it’s purely something you are doing for yourself and you’ve spent years properly considering all the risks and outcomes of the surgery. Bad reasons for having it done include wanting to please others, make yourself more attractive to a partner or if you’re doing it on impulse.

Overall you need to be completely honest with yourself. Never rush into a procedure. Always talk through your reasons with a surgeon prior to booking the surgery.

How Important is it to Choose a Specialist Surgeon?

Once you’ve made the decision to have plastic surgery, one of the most important things you need to do is find a good, reliable and experienced surgeon. This can be a lot more difficult than you think. Unfortunately, not all surgeons are as skilled as they claim to be.

Cosmetic surgery is a very lucrative business so it does attract a minority group of surgeons who are purely in it for the money. There are also many different kinds of plastic surgeons out there. If you want to get the best results, choosing a specialist surgeon is highly recommended.

What is a specialist plastic surgeon?

A specialist plastic surgeon is one that performs a specific type of surgery. They are qualified in numerous procedures, but they specialise in one field. So, say you’re looking to have a facelift. Ideally you want to find a surgeon who specialises in facelift procedures. Or, if you’re wanting breast implants, choose a surgeon who largely focuses on breast augmentation.

Most surgeons tend to dabble in all kinds of plastic surgery and that’s fine if they have years of experience. However, a specialist surgeon is always a good option if you can find one.

The benefits of a specialist surgeon

There are many benefits that come from choosing a specialist plastic surgeon over a general one. One of the biggest advantages is that it lowers the chance of complications arising during the surgery. A specialist surgeon knows exactly what they’re doing and will have performed the same procedure many times over.

The results are obviously another major benefit. You’re guaranteed much better results if you choose a surgeon who specialises in the procedure you’re undergoing. As they do have a lot of experience, they’ll have perfected the surgery to guarantee excellent results. Of course, with any surgery there are always risks and the chance it won’t turn out how you hoped. However, you’re much more likely to get the results you crave by choosing a specialist in the field.

It is sometimes preferable to pick a specialist, but as long as the surgeon has years of experience performing the procedure you’re undergoing, you should end up with good results. Take your time when searching for the right surgeon. Book consultations with at least three so you can compare their skills and experience. You also need to feel comfortable with them as, after all, it’s a major decision that will have a massive impact on your life.

What is the difference between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery?

which wayAre you confused about whether the procedure you’re thinking of having done is considered cosmetic or reconstructive surgery? If so you wouldn’t be alone.

While the two types of surgery are very different, they are often considered one and the same. Whether you want to know out of sheer curiosity, or you need to know because your insurance claim relies upon it, below you’ll discover everything you need to know about the differences between the two types of procedures.

Understanding the main differences

The biggest difference between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery is that one is a choice and the other is actually needed. With cosmetic surgery, it is used to enhance the appearance based upon personal preference. Reconstructive surgery on the other hand is typically carried out to fix a problem.

As reconstructive surgery is something that is medically required, it is often included within health insurance policies and may also be available on the NHS. However, even if you choose to undergo the procedure privately, it is recommended you double check with your insurer before undergoing the surgery as some restrictions may apply. If you’re having cosmetic surgery, this won’t usually be covered as it’s a choice, not a necessity.

You might find it interesting to know that the majority of cosmetic procedures carried out today are actually modified from reconstructive surgery. The majority of reconstructive surgeons are also cosmetic surgeons, though many do prefer to focus solely on reconstructive procedures.

Grey areas do exist between the two

What makes it more difficult to tell the difference between reconstructive and cosmetic surgery is there are a lot of grey areas. For example, if you’ve suffered severe burns to your face after an accident, you’d want to have surgery for cosmetic reasons, to regain a more normal appearance. However, it might also be medically necessary to have surgery, particularly if there’s a high risk of infection or other health issues.

Due to the sheer amount of grey areas that do exist, it’s recommended you contact your insurer to double check if the surgery you require is covered.

Overall if you’re just looking to enhance the size of your breasts because you aren’t happy with their natural size, this is a cosmetic procedure. If, on the other hand, you need surgery to reduce dropping eyelids as they are obscuring your vision, this would be reconstructive surgery.

Your surgeon will be able to tell you exactly what type of procedure you’re having done. Remember, before having any type of surgery you should always research both the risks and benefits associated with the procedure.

Is it safe to have repeat cosmetic surgery soon after the initial procedure?

cosmetic-surgeryIf for any reason you require further cosmetic surgery after an initial procedure, it’s important to know how long you should leave it before going under the knife for a second time. Any kind of surgery is traumatic on the body. Therefore, it’s going to need to recover properly before a repeat procedure is carried out. Here you’ll discover how long you should typically leave it between surgeries.

Waiting for results

Before you even consider another cosmetic surgery procedure, it’s important to ensure you’ve given enough time for the results of the initial one to appear. A lot of people don’t realise that it can take anything up to six months to see the final results of a cosmetic procedure. This is because, depending upon the type of surgery you’ve undergone, it can take six months for swelling to go down and for the body to fully recover.

In the case of breast augmentation, the best plastic surgeons will suggest leaving it at least three months before having a second procedure done. However, whether you’ve had breast augmentation, a tummy tuck or a facelift, six months is generally the minimum amount of time you should wait between procedures.

Even if you’re not 100% happy with the initial results, you’ll still need to wait for six months before booking a corrective surgery.

Understanding the exceptions

There are situations where surgery may be required before the recommended six month waiting period. If you’ve developed an infection, are experiencing unusual symptoms or you’re in severe pain, you may need to have an emergency surgery carried out.

Even the best plastic surgeon can make a mistake. This will usually be discovered pretty soon after the surgery has been conducted. In this instance, they will be able to reschedule a second treatment to fix the problem as soon as it is safe to do so.

Having more than one procedure

If you’re thinking of having two separate procedures such as a facelift and liposuction for example, it would be worth looking in to having them done at the same time. Experienced surgeons will be able to carry out two procedures on the same day. This would prevent you from having to wait six months before having the second procedure.

Overall, six months is the standard level of time to wait between surgeries. However, it will depend on a number of factors. It’s important to talk it through with your surgeon as they will be able to give you a more specific waiting time period.
